Kampung Cina is located along Jalan Bandar (formerly known as Jalan Kampung Cina), in Kuala Terengganu city centre at the river mouth of Terengganu River that empties into the South China Sea. Kuala Terengganu's Chinatown was first established by the Chinese community in the late 19th century. It was once a hub for commercial activities that helped shape Kuala Terengganu into what it is today.

Chinatown in Terengganu which was opened about 300 years ago by traders from China was their first business area in Terengganu. The oldest shophouses in the area dates back to 1800s which were mostly bade out of brick, plaster and timber. Chinese traditions and customs can be found everywhere in this place and Chinese new year is celebrated widely by the Chinese residents.

This Chinatown stretches along the street with various 2-3 story high shophouses. The side alley of the shophouses displayed artworks with lots of vibrant colors and lights. This made the area more bright and brought a joyous vibe. However, something which contrasted the features of the area was passing by vehicles. It would have been nice if the whole street was only for pedestrians. I can say that vehicles parked on the side of the road and more vehicles passing by in such a narrow street can be dangerous especially around with kids.
