Persatuan Sejarah Malaysia Cawangan Terengganu is the Terengganu branch of a history association who has carried out a number of conservation projects. The first of their project was conservation of Kota Lama Duyung, a historical traditional house located in Duyong Island, which is about 7 km from downtown of Kuala Terengganu.

Malay traditional houses are prefabricated to assemble and disassemble easily. They use pegs as joints and can be easily removed in need of disassembly. The main reason behind this was that most of the Malay settlements were at river bank and during flood season, the houses needed to move further away.

There can be same or similar solution for different issues and needs. Malay traditional houses were prefabricated and easily disassembled because they had to move now and then. But, we see similar kind of construction these day to cut off cost and construction time.

We were served with lunch here and had some enjoyable time.
